At the intermediate level, martial arts weapons (bo, tonfa,
sai, kama, nunchaku, katana) are introduced into the student's training. The
kata and techniques, both karate and jujutsu, are then applied with these weapons.
Traditional training methods are used. Kata, mind and breath
control, discipline, philosophy and history are stressed.
Since the emphasis of the art is on self-defense, training focuses on what works
rather than what looks good. Defense against grabs, throws, gun and knife attacks,
and multi-person attacks are covered in a realistic, common-sense type approach.
Other methods of defense, such as passive resistance, role playing and alternative
weapons are also addressed in the system as all of these are crucial to a comprehensive
form of self-defense.
